Restaurant features
This café and patisserie is only open three days a week, on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday.
It’s located in front of the town hall in Higashiyoshino Village, but it takes less than 30 minutes by car from the nearest station, Kintetsu “Yamato-Kamiichi Station”.
Although it might be rude to say so, it’s a rather fancy café located along a country road, and it catches your eye as you pass by.
Upon further investigation, it seems that the café is run by the wife, a patissier, and the husband, a furniture maker, who have combined their businesses.
In that case, the location makes sense.
A space where minimal simplicity and nature coexist.
Inside the store, there is only one table and two counters facing the window.
On the table, there is a book and a menu, but the other pages of the book are catalogs of ordered furniture, all of which are minimal and refined while utilizing the warmth of Yoshino’s wood.
The highlight is the beautiful cakes.
The menu includes not only traditional sweets but also cakes made with seasonal local fruits.
The homemade pudding is a classic, and they also offer trending desserts like Basque cheesecake.
However, I believe that tarts made with seasonal fruits are the true highlight.
Although the appearance is so neat that you might mistake it for a hotel lounge, there is the graceful nature of Higashi Yoshino right in front of you.
Tea is the centerpiece of their drinks
Their tea selection is also exquisite, featuring red tea from “Kabouemon”, a long-established Japanese tea shop in Yoshino, as well as organic Darjeeling from “Makaibari,” a pioneer of organic tea.
Of course, their coffee is also great.
If you can visit on their open days (only 3 days a week on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday), it is a cafe you definitely want to check out after enjoying the beautiful nature of Higashiyoshino.
