Modern Thai cuisine that gently wraps the traditional Thai taste with the sophistication of Australia
In 2013, “paste” opened as a small shop in Sukhumvit Soi 49, but its charming cuisine quickly made it a popular spot.
In 2016, it relocated to Gayson Village, one of Bangkok’s top shopping malls in terms of luxury, and expanded its business. In the 2018 Michelin Guide, it was awarded one star.
It is no doubt one of the shops that symbolizes the prosperity of Bangkok’s gastronomy scene.
It all started with Chef Bee and her husband Jason, who previously ran a popular Thai restaurant in Australia, opening the Bangkok dream in Bee’s hometown, Thailand.
The restaurant was named “Paste” after its signature dishes which use various types of pastes prominent in Thai royal cuisine.
They keep the taste of classic Thai food while presenting it in a fashionable way, sometimes decorated with flowers and other times with dips replacing sauces.
The restaurant uses locally sourced organic ingredients as much as possible.
The cuisine is moderately spiced and has a gentle flavor, which is why it is trusted not only by Thais but also by Japanese and Western people.
The restaurant places emphasis on its wine selection, with over 50 different types of wine to choose from that are carefully chosen to complement the food.
Their cocktails are also notable for their use of herbs like lemongrass, coriander, and mint, creating a refreshing adult flavor.
This time, the restaurant was visited for lunch. Although the food was good, it was not quite grasped, so another visit is planned to add more information.
The location and stylish interior atmosphere make it a recommended spot for couples and young families rather than business use. It gives a modern feel of Thailand, not a nostalgic one, to those who want to experience the current Thai culture.
