The 2023 edition of “Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants” was announced on the evening of March 28th in Singapore.
Due to factors such as the new virus and the weakening yen, it has been difficult to cross borders with ease lately, so only Japanese restaurants were selected for this edition.
Here is a list of all Japanese restaurants that ranked within the top 100 for the 2023 edition of “Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants”.
Although we don’t usually focus solely on Japan for “Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants” on our website because we want to encompass all of Asia, it seems that it will continue to be a time for Japan to reflect.
So, I’m not particularly interested in how many Japanese restaurants made the list, but as I was organizing the rankings, I couldn’t help but think “Wow, this place in Gaienmae is amazing.”
Three restaurants within Asia made it into the top 10 rankings.
Restaurants that ranked from No.1-10
Last year’s No.1, “Den,” dropped to No.4, making way for “Sezanne” to take the top spot in Japan.
If we only consider within Japan, one might have thought, “Oh, is this the one?” in a surprising way, but considering the chef’s international network of fame, which was also well-known in Hong Kong, it seems quite reasonable.
Chef Kawate of “Florilege” received the “Chef’s Choice Award,” which had the highest number of votes from chefs.
“La Cime” in Osaka has maintained its position within the top 10, and “Narisawa” has returned to the top 10.
